Veteran’s benefits and medical care is not an entitlement like welfare. It is an earned and deserved benefit.
Do you think our military retirees, who are given health benefits in thanks for their years of service to America -- should be thought of as "welfare recipients"?
Do you think our military retirees, who are given Liberals in the media and the White House -- do!
A recent New York Times article called military health and pension benefits a social welfare program.
Anyone who has served in our military knows that military health care and retirement benefits are earned -- they are obviously NOT getting some kind of "welfare" checks!!!
In fact, anyone with any common sense at all knows that!
But who says liberals have any common sense -- or any respect for our brave military veterans, for that matter?
Barack Hussein Obama has just proposed to cut the benefits of our military retirees!
After he already demanded the DoD cut several billion dollars from Military Spending of which the VA is part of that budget.
Less than a month ago Obama said no way would he ever try to reduce he deficit or balance the budget on the backs of Veterans, and now over the past two weeks he has done an about face.
He’s asked for a $200 annual premium to begin in 2013 for all retirees who receive Tricare for Life.
Due to poor planning and negotiating there has already been an increase on co-pays on Tricare Prime.
Obama wants to tack a never-before-heard-of fee on retired military families who want to continue medical coverage under the "Tricare" plan, and RAISE their prescription co-payments.
Our military men and women have fought bravely -- and many have died -- to protect the freedoms we cherish so dearly. In exchange, our country made a promise to them in the form of benefits -- and we must HONOR that promise!
According to press reports, the Obama regime's plan proposes a $200 annual fee for retired military families who want to continue coverage under a Tricare-for-Life program that supplements Medicare coverage for veterans over 65.
The president's proposal would also eliminate co-pays for mail-order drugs and institute a percentage co-pay rather than a flat-fee for in-pharmacy purchases. The White House says the move will encourage military families to use less expensive prescriptions and save the U.S. $20 billion over 20 years.
Of course, the Obama regime is trying to "spin" Barack Obama's attempt to pull the rug out from under our nation's military veterans. Their proposal, according to the White House, would save the government $6.7 billion over 10 years.
BUT AT WHOSE COST?
We've put our troops in harm's way, and we must honor our promises. Our brave men and women in uniform have paid a heavy price these past ten years. Over 5,000 have paid the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. Another 40,000 have seen crushing injuries, and hundreds of thousands more suffer from brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Failing to meet the promises we made to our troops -- like Barack Obama is proposing -- would be unjust and immoral. The cuts that Obama has announced he's pushing for, combined with the rumored cuts in benefits reported in publications like Army Times, have our soldiers and veterans deeply concerned.
The Obama regime should SUPPORT OUR TROOPS -- NOT cut their benefits, which have been earned at such a high cost!
Obama's plan proposes additional increases in Tricare pharmacy co-pays for military beneficiaries and would begin charging an enrollment fee for older retirees using Tricare for Life health benefits. This would be the first EVER enrollment fee for Tricare For Life (even though it currently DOES force a recipient to take Medicare Part B at a monthly cost in order to be eligible for Tricare), and the increased co-pays would apply to all active-duty family members and all retirees, regardless of age.
So what does the Obama White House use as an excuse to cut military retiree benefits? They complain that co-payments for military beneficiaries "have lagged behind other federal and private plans," and that this new annual fee for Tricare For Life benefits is such a great idea because otherwise it's "unlike comparable services in the private sector."
That's The Point! There is no comparison between military service and civilian life that can in any way justify what the Obama regime is proposing. The REASON that the benefits are so different, is because life in the military is different than life in a typical 9-to-5 job! When was the last time a federal employee went to Afghanistan for a year and left his kids without a dad for that year? We're asking these people to be willing to sacrifice their very lives in service to this country -- and Barack Hussein Obama wants to treat them like they're "no different" than anybody else, and he can just cut their well-earned and well-deserved benefits for whatever ridiculous reason he thinks he can get away with.
To top it all off, it's INSANE that Barack Obama is calling for cuts to veterans' benefits while increasing our interventions in countries around the world, like Libya and Egypt, even more. And cutting our veterans' benefits while we subsidize the security of other wealthy nations like Germany and Japan and play "World Policeman" makes no sense. Authentic, Constitutionally-sound national security -- a strong national defense -- begins with guarding our borders from millions of illegal aliens from who-knows-where, and not sending those needed troops over to guard the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
The fact is, there are trillions of dollars in unwise and unconstitutional spending that MUST be cut. Conservatives and Tea Party supporters have called for cut DEEP spending cuts in order to truly balance our budget. But that doesn't change the fact that we MUST make sure we take care of our veterans who fought to take care of US.
IT'S UP TO US TO STOP OBAMA'S ATTACKS ON OUR MILITARY. And we CAN stop him, by demanding that Congress say NO to Obama's attempted cuts to veterans' benefits -- but we MUST take action NOW!
I simply cannot strongly urge all our Veterans enough to take action TODAY, not tomorrow, don’t put it off for fear of losing what you have now, that can’t happen for voicing your opinion, but sitting back and waiting for the Big 6 to do their job and fulfill their mission statements.
Veterans nationwide, all 20.4 million Veterans must pick up their phone and call toll FREE 866-272-6622 (one call per rep) and tell them they must not, they cannot support any budget cuts in Veterans Benefits, in fact they must increase spending to help those who served our country with pride, honor and dignity!
Current military retirees will tell you how things REALLY are right now: they haven't had a cost of living increase in three years. Their retirement is about two-thirds the retirement of a person who decides to retire right now. They are about ten years behind in equal pay with those who retire with the same pay rate and number of years. Those who are turning 65 this year are paying $1,380 per year for Medicare Part B -- and now Obama expects them to pay another $200 per year Tricare For Life enrollment fee?
This is hardly new -- Obama and his cronies have been after our military all along. Look who he threatened during the Debt Ceiling fiasco: the military (active and retired) and those on Social Security, who he threatened to withhold payments from if the so-called "deadline" wasn't met. We MUST stand up to this nonsense -- PLEASE, take action RIGHT AWAY to DEMAND that Congress say NO to Obama's attempted cuts to veterans' benefits!
